About Us Pinnacle Optical opened as a finishing lab in Trussville, Alabama in December of 2002. By early 2003, production levels were around 115 Rx's per day. The process included finishing automation and electronic transfer of Rx work in and out of the laboratory via Visionweb that helped acheive excellent quality and turnaround with four full time staff members. In January of 2004, Pinnacle relocated after acquiring the assets of NAVA Labs in Birmingham, Alabama. With the acquisition, Pinnacle has taken the automation of the lab to a new level by investing in Loh surfacing and finishing equipment with robotics and conveyors to automate and streamline the production process. A proven methodology and a philosophy of commitment to quality with scheduled monitoring of process to maintain consistency, Pinnacle has continued to achieve excellent results. We are certified in the COLTS Laboratories FDA accepted program to insure your patients receive not only the highest quality, but also meet FDA compliancy for impact resistance. We also have certification for Z87.1 2003: Basic and High Impact requirements for your safety prescriptions. Also with the NAVA acquisition, Pinnacle Optical came the exclusive laboratory for the VisionChoice vision care plan. With the added Rx's from the plan, along with additional private pay and managed care accounts (we are also a provider for Vision Care Plan and Vision Benefits of America) units began averaging over 150 per day during the first quarter of 2004 and grew to the present unit number of 200+ Rx's per day. Pinnacle is proud to be involved in our community as the manufacturing arm of the Rural Alabama Spectacle Project which provides low-cost eyeglasses for people in need.
